The Unknown Star

Ever heard of Ollie Rayner? The German-born spinner now plays for Middlesex, and in my mind is a great player. I saw him play last against the Netherlands in the Cyldesdale bank pro 40 game. On the last 3 balls of the innings he hit three 4 in a row, all in the same area!!!!

Previously Rayner had played for Sussex, on his debut way back in 2006 he hit a hundred against no other than Sri Lanka! Last year in the LV County Championship he had bowling figures of 3-24. However at Sussex he was always put in as the “second spinner”, he was always second to Mushtaq Ahmed.

This season Rayner will make his name in domestic cricket,  and you never know may get a shot in the England side, if you remember Graeme Swan was  late to play for England regularly.
